Decorating Cookies

For family night in September, I was trying to come up with something we could do that would be aimed at Lucy. So I came up with the idea to decorate sugar cookies. Well it took longer to make them then I hoped, so we ended up doing family night on like a Tuesday. Lucy helped me make the frosting while Shawn spread our big picnic blanket on the living room floor. Why do them in the living room you might ask? Well the Republican Caucus was that week, and I think that was the night Sarah Palin was announced or something big. So to make everyone happy, we did this in front of the TV.

I took Lucy all of 30 seconds to realize everything we were using was edible. She loved that I was using "potty treats" aka chocolate chips as decoration. I'd put one on a cookie, she'd take it off and eat it. Once we let her go at decorating, she stopped eating everything because she was having so much fun, but no one would want to eat the cookies she decorated. In the end I think we ate maybe 4 cookies and threw the rest away.

Look at Lucy's tounge as she concentrates. She got that from her dad, and she's been doing it since birth. Do you like her decorating abilities?

The finished product, and as Lucy puts it "All Done!"

BIG ROCKS!!!

Garden of the Gods

For Labor Day we decided to take advantage of being down here in Colorado Springs and go visit a site. So on the Saturday before Labor day (to try and beat the crowd which kind of worked) we took a trip to Garden of the Gods. Lucy LOVED this place. All she kept saying was "Oh!! Big Rocks!!"

The Balanced Rock

She loved climbing on the rocks, and through the little tunnels.

At this point I got really claustrophobic sitting under this huge rock thinking about the Arch in Utah that just collapsed. I got out of there as fast as I could once these pictures were snapped. Lucy didn't love it under there either.

By the end of the day Lucy was in the "I do it myself" mode. Needless to say, she took a great nap when we got home, and we got to enjoy the BYU football game in piece and quite.

Come here Puppy!!!

Lucy has a very active imagination lately, I can't get her to do anything unless I refer to her as "puppy". She even has to have a puppy bowl of water to drink on the floor. Sometimes it's nice though, she can be starting a big tantrum and I just play the puppy card and she snaps out of it. But most of my days go something like this...

"Come here puppy (whistle whistle, kiss kiss)." She even reminds me that she is a puppy at least 20 times a day by doing just that, "Come here puppy (kiss kiss)."

Ultrasounds!

I kept debating about which of these to put up, but since they aren't as clear on the computer as they are in the actual pictures, that made it easier. Then I couldn't decide if I wanted to put up the one that shows it's a boy or not. That seems all personal right? But then I decided if I have pictures of Lucy in the bathtub on here, then this little guys isn't going to get any more privacy than she does once he's born, so why not start now?

We are so excited! He is getting big! These are actually our 3rd ultrasound pictures, and I am only 19 weeks! I still have one more too because they couldn't see everything they needed to see in the heart of this little guy because he wouldn't hold still. So I have to go back in at 28 weeks for another one. I'm not complaining, I might once the bill comes, but I love ultrasounds.
My first ultrasound was at my first apointment to see how far along I was. I thought I was 9 weeks, but I was 11, that was a pleasant surprise. Then at my next appointment, where they just check the heartbeat, they couldn't find the baby, so they took me back for another ultrasound. Everything was fine, this little boy was just really low, the doctors were all shocked he was so low too. So yeah, we are getting spoiled with the ultrasounds. I guess this little boy just loves having his picture taken.
