Longest Blog Update EVER!!

Just so everyone knows, I spent all afternoon updating our blog. So when you get to the bottom of this page, and you think you have seen everything new there is to see, click on older posts, because there is even more! The sad thing is, some of the best posts are the ones on the other page. I got some really entertaining videos of Lucy that are a must see. Enjoy!

Jack's Blessing Day

We blessed Jack today. I know it is kind of weird to bless a baby at two months, when he can smile for his blessing pictures, but we got nailed with General Conference and Easter. We wanted to put it off in hopes that my family could come out, but that just didn't work. We didn't want to do it on Easter because we have 8:30 church, and we couldn't ask people to come out that early on a holiday, especially since most of them were coming from Denver. Well, it turned out that all our reasons for putting it off were pointless since Shawn's whole family got sick this morning, Shawn's friend from work couldn't make it, my family couldn't make it, and so only Shawn's parents were able to make it, and we were so happy to see them. Thanks for driving all the way down guys. I know it's sometimes easier to do these things at home, but we had our reasons for doing it at church. We were able to have Ethan (the little boy I babysit for) and his parents there, and that was really great. I've really wanted them to come for a long time, so it made up for everything else. We also have plenty of close friends in our ward, so our circle was a good size.

Shawn gave an amazing blessing and I was so happy that we could do it today. When we got home, Shawn was sick, so we didn't get any pictures of him holding Jack in his suit. But the pictures we got of the kids are absolutely priceless! I love my two little buggers, and it was so great to get to bless Jack today. So these pictures are for those of you who couldn't make it, Jack stole the show.

How cute are these pictures of the two of them? I knew when I took these pictures I had captured a priceless moment. That always feels so good.

The little tux he is in is suppose to be pants, but Jack is so long, that it turned out to be shorts on him. Actually, the pants fit him perfectly length wise, but they wouldn't stay down. Oh well, he is adorable just the same.

I love him in his little outfit. Such a cute little bug.

We're Moving

Unlike Jeff and Tara's post about moving a year ago, we are not announcing a move across the country, just up the street. Still it's been crazy enough to blog about. Shawn and I are living in an apartment complex right now, and as much as we LOVE our apartment, it is still just that, an apartment. For those of you who have forgotten what it is like to have people living above you, or below you, just take a second to think back to those times. But even that isn't why we are so anxious to get out. I have a two year old, and I watch another two year old. And these two kids LOVE playing outside. We have a great play ground set here at the apartment, but I feel like it is just as much work to take them out to that as it would be to take them to the park. So I'm dying for a back yard, because I feel so bad keeping them cooped up inside all the time. It's been winter, so I really haven't had a choice, but still.

Anyway, our lease in this apartment is up in the middle of June. We were told we had to give the manager's 60 days notice to vacate, so we did. When we went up to the office to do this, they asked how soon we wanted to leave. They made it sound like we could leave as soon as we wanted to. So we said, we'll let's go at the end of April. A day or two later we got a call informing us that to do this we would have to pay a penalty of $1200 on top of rent until someone else moved in. We obviously aren't dummies, so we decided to hang around until the end of our lease.

Well, on Tuesday the 7th, I got a call from the office asking us how soon we could be out. They had someone who wanted our apartment as soon as possible. So I called Shawn and we decided we could be out in 2-3 weeks. So when I called back we decided that the day we needed to be out by was April 26th. So the house hunt was on. We found a house by Thursday and got our application in by that Friday. Well we got a call that Friday night telling us that we were approved, but... the owner had been contacted by someone who wanted to possibly buy the house. So we had to wait all weekend to find out if we got this house or not, and by this point, I'd fallen in love with it.

On Monday we got the call that we got the house. So we are so excited. The down side is that we have to leave our ward, and we are heart broken about this! All the houses for rent in our ward were out of our price range, except for one that we seriously considered but decided it would just be too tight for us, and we really don't want to move again in a year. But we both feel really really good about this house, and we are so excited to get our family into our own little house, even if we don't own it. I'll put up some pictures when we get there next week. I'll actually be getting the keys on Friday, and Shawn will be on a business trip. So basically I'll be doing as much of the moving as I can on my own. Thank goodness for some good friends who are willing to watch the kids for me.

But we really will miss our ward. As the word has spread, I've had three families in the ward looking for houses for us. One lady found one, and she is so set on us moving in that she is willing to find us somewhere to "bunk down" until it opens in August. It's just been so sad to leave. We've just felt so loved by everyone in our ward, and have definitely made some long term friends in this ward.

A Fight With the Stomach Flu

On Thursday night, I was getting ready for bed when I went in to check on Lucy to make sure she was tucked in. I went to pull up the blanket when I realized everything was covered in puke. So Shawn came in and took care of Lucy, he bathed her and all that fun stuff. I was in charge of getting all the bedding cleaned up and ready for her to go back to bed. Shawn ended up sleeping in Lucy's room on the floor, and she threw up several more times that night.

I felt so bad when I realized how needy Lucy was that night because I was so torn. I wanted to be there to help her, but I knew Jack needed me too. I have never been so grateful to have such a good husband as I was that night. Shawn made the comment to me that he would much rather be in charge of feeding the baby then being on puke duty. But he really stepped up to the plate on this one, and I have to say, I've never been so happy to be waking up with Jack as I was that night, at least Jack wasn't puking all over me.

We thought by Friday afternoon Lucy was over it, she seemed much better. Actually, even when she was throwing up on Thursday night, she was so happy the whole time. I felt so bad when I found her sleeping in her vomit because I didn't know how long she'd been like that, she never cried. And she never cried any other time she threw up. She would just say "I need my bowl!!" Then she was fine. You can imagine how surprised I was when I heard a gagging sound coming from Lucy's room at 10:00 on Friday night.

When I went in I found that Lucy had thrown up again, but she was still asleep. She had no idea she had thrown up. When I woke her up (as much as I could) she stood on her bed and I showed her that her arm was covered and she said "Oh my gosh!" It was so cute. Unfortunately Shawn had just left to go work out, so I was on my own this time. I bathed Lucy, and she was so tired that she fell asleep in the tub. It was so sad. I took a picture to show Shawn when he got back, and it totally creeps him out. She was so sick. But after a blessing, and another night of Shawn sleeping in Lucy's room just in case, she was fine. She didn't have any more puking episodes until this morning as we were putting her in the car to go to church. We were blessing Jack this morning, so we didn't have a choice but to take her. She turned out to be fine, I just don't think her stomach was ready for the chocolate milk yet. Now poor Shawn is coming down with it, after being so good and sleeping with Lucy those two nights, this is how he is repaid.

Jack is Two Months Old!!!

I cannot believe it has been two months already since we welcomed Jack to our family. He is such a good baby, so easy going, and so happy! He is smiling now, and he smiles a lot. Every morning when he wakes up and sees me, he gets the biggest smile on his face. It makes it that much easier for me to wake up in the mornings, which we all know I hate to do.

Jack loves to look people in the face. If you try and hold him on your lap, he will arch is back and strain his neck to turn around and look at your face. We call him our little turtle because he's always been able to strain his neck really well. He finds it relaxing. Usually if he gets fussy, all it takes is letting him hang his neck over your arm so he is upside down, and he'll calm right down. He's such a cute, and funny kid.

More smiles. I love this little guy!

Easter, Easter, and more Easter!!!

Lucy was so excited for the hunt to start, no matter how cold. I think that my brain fell out of my head a while ago because I honestly forgot everything for this Easter weekend up at Shawn's parents, including Lucy's coat. So thanks Adriana for saving me and letting Lucy use Matthew's coat, she would have froze!

Finally finding the eggs. Lucy did really good. So did Matthew, he is the little guy behind Lucy in the picture above.

On Easter Morning, Lucy wasn't able to get her basket or do the egg hunt until after church. Gotta love 9:00 church. But she never knew the difference. She was one happy girl. Is it silly that I felt guilty for not getting Jack anything? I mean honestly, he wasn't even two months old! Luckily the Easter Bunny thought of him and slipped some small soft sports balls into Lucy's basket for him. That way he can say he was never forgotten.

"Painting eggs, that's Easter."

We dyed eggs a little early this year, for FHE on the Monday before. Lucy LOVED it, as you can see.

We're a little slow to wake up at our house. We usually spend the better part of the morning in our jammies cuddling on the couch, and if your name is Lucy, you do this drinking chocolate milk, and Jack sucks on his pacifier.

But we eventually do get moving. This is Lucy in her "exerdances" clothes. She usually tells me when she is wearing this that she has a baby in her tummy.

Photo Shoot

How many tries does it take to get a good picture of two toddlers and one newborn?

Align Center

We don't know, we gave up after 5.

Are we horrible parents?

So this might be something that some people will say, "I can't believe you let your daughter do this" about, but come on, it's so cute! I've decided that anything Steff teachs Lucy, though some of it may be a little sketchy, is so stinking adorable. Steff has taught Lucy the chocolate milk dance, bear hugs, how to spell her name, and most recently the bootie shake. All of which are heart melters. Enjoy. We're still working on coordination.

Lucy the Big Sis

Lucy loves being a big sister. She really likes to help out with everything, and usually it is so adorable, more than it is a nuisance. My favorite is when I walk into the room and see her just talking to Jack when he is laying on the couch or the floor. She just loves him so much, I wish everyone could see what I see every day.

Lucy has been pretty funny since I had Jack. The one thing that she does most that really catches me funny is when she lays in her bed like this with the pillow up and says "I having a baby, I at the hospital and the doctors are going to take the baby out of me." She is such a goof. It's not like she really even knows how Jack was born, but she visited me in the hospital and that is what she knows. So funny.

Daddy Daughter Date

Shawn took Lucy on a Daddy Daughter Date a few weeks ago. They had such a blast! And Jack and I enjoyed some nice and quite time at home, we took a nap! Anyway, Disney on Ice was in town, and we thought Lucy would love it! But it was a little pricey, that and Shawn still felt really guilty about leaving Lucy at church a few weeks ago. He got all the way home, walked in the door (I was home with the baby because he was still too young to take to church and our whole ward was sick), and said "OH LUCY!!!" Anyway, he felt really really bad. Lucky for us we have an awesome Primary President who waited with Lucy until Shawn came and got her. But yeah, he felt so bad, and he's been wanting to take her out on a Daddy daughter date for a while, so this is what he took her to. She LOVED it! Even before she knew what she was really doing, she was telling everyone she saw that she got to go on a date!

I LOVE this picture of Lucy holding Jack! Well, I love both these pictures of her holding him, her faces (and his) are priceless! Sometimes she is a little too loving though, like when she kisses his mouth, or when she tries to hug him by wrapping her arms around his neck.

First thing every morning Lucy wants chocolate milk. Then once that need is met, and assuming Jack is happy, and Lucy didn't wake up on the wrong side of the bed, she demands to get her time to hold Jack. That's pretty much the only time she is ever interested in holding him, unless she is trying to stall a nap or going to bed. But she is so sweet with him.

What is with my kids and their eyebrows?

I keep laughing because Jack seems to like to express himself with his eyebrows a lot. Why is this funny? Because Lucy recently mastered this art herself. About 4 or 5 months before I had Jack, Shawn and I noticed that Lucy was getting overly expressive wit her eyebrows, especially when she had a story to tell. Here are just a few examples. Don't worry, more will come. these are just their concerned eye brows. They also have a set of surprise eye brows, and mad. It's just funny to me they both do the same things.
