Christmas Morning 2009

Ok, I know that tomorrow it is February, and I am just now getting around to my Christmas post, but things have been a little unpredictable around here and crazy busy. Hopefully now that I am settled into my routine I can be more on top of things. Oh, and for the record, I am all caught up now, I've taken no pictures in January, but will make a post about the month and what has been going on later.

Lucy and Jack on Christmas morning waiting to go upstairs and see what Santa left.

Lucy's first reaction to...

...her new pink princess bike which she had been eying at Costco for months.

So we had a bit of a rough night on Christmas Eve. While we were "getting everything ready" for Christmas morning, aka assembling Lucy's bike, Lucy walked upstairs 3 times, and I was so certain that she didn't see the bike, but she made few comments the next day that make me think that maybe she did see it. I think she was just way too excited to sleep. Then in the middle of the night I woke up to a little jingling sound. I went out down the hall and look up the stairs to see Lucy at the top of them heading out, but she was carrying a little dog that was a rattle, and blew her cover. See Tara, that is what you do on Christmas Eve, make your kids sleep with rattles, and in your case, tie rattles to them ;).

It was Jack and his cousin Macie's first Christmas, and they were excited about it.

Pictures like this have kind of become a tradition for me. I have one of Lucy every year in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning (with the exception of her first Christmas since she was 2 months old, but I do have one of her in the wrapping paper pile that year). Jack's first Christmas morning picture could not have turned out cuter. BTW, he was in his cute PJ's as in the first picture, but he had a rough night in the diaper department and we had to change.

Jack on his first go on the new rocking horse, which he LOVES!

Don't know if I have ever seen a better picture..... ever.

Another picture of Jack in front of the mountain of presents. There are a lot of gifts involved with 13 family members.

Lucy in front of the tree. She got really posy this trip.

Jack opening his first present. It was clothes, and then he fell asleep for the next hour.

Lucy opening her presents, she got really really into it this year. Every present she opened came with exclamations like "Oh my gosh!!" "It's so cute!" "This is adorable!" and "I love it!" She didn't really act like a 3 year old, more like a 15 year old, looking back on it, I'm a little concerned.

"Oh my gosh! They are so cute!"

She got so excited about her new ballet tutu that she demanded to put it on right then. She didn't take it off for the rest of the day. This is her new digital camera. She loves this thing and now she leaves mine alone for the most part.

This year for Christmas Bob and Pam gave the kids the gift of a trip to Breckenridge for a few days. We were able to go skiing (which was my first time) and snowmobiling. It was a lot of fun. I have to admit I have picked up a new love for skiing and think I've picked up a very expensive hobby. But we didn't have a lot planned for the kids with that trip, so Shawn and I decided to take Lucy ice skating. She loved it so much! She keeps asking if we can go again, even though she didn't really learn how to actually ice skate. She was cute though, and a lot of fun. One of my favorite things was how little her skates were. This picture doesn't do it justice, but they were so tiny and so cute!

We took this picture at the end, and she really didn't want to leave, and she wanted to watch the machine clean the ice.

This was the little tool they had to help little kids who were learning to skate. It actually made things a lot harder more than it helped. Thank goodness Shawn was like the rollerblading champ of Highlands Ranch when he was little because he was able to help her much better than I was.

If nothing else, Lucy looked really really cute, and had a blast.

And here are the cousins at the Condo in Breckenridge. It's crazy that they are all this big, and what's even more crazy is that we were able to get a picture of them all looking at the camera at the same time.

tell, I loved this post! I miss you so, so much! Jack is such a little stud, I cannot believe our babies are growing up so stinkin' fast. Lucy is adorable, she totally reminds me of my niece lexi who is exactly the same, a miniature teenager. I wouldn't worry til she actually is a teen, haha!

Lol, your comment made me laugh. I'm sure you are a better skiier than you give yourself credit for. I can't believe how big those kiddos are getting. Don't you love having two that are so close? Too much fun!
