Seriously, life has been SO crazy the last couple of months, I don't even know if my head is still attached to my body. I am happy to report that we are still alive and well, and pictures are coming soon! Alivia is going to feel so neglected when she looks back on this blog because I pretty much stopped blogging when she was born. But someday she will have her 3rd child and then she will understand, and for the record, there are PLENTY of pictures of her, so she won't feel that neglected.
I just wanted to write down a couple funny things that have happened around here today. I won't go into a ton of detail (well, I probably will because that is just how I do things, but I'll try to keep it brief), but I have to remember these moments, even if I feel like I am bobbing in the deep end of the pool.
Tonight at dinner, Shawn was playing a game with the kids, the "Show me a ______ face." It was highly entertaining. Lucy not only got every face right, and overly expressed, but she also accompanied them with small sounds to fit each emotion, sounds from the small gasps of air she was taking in while making faces. It was funny how each gasp matched her facial expression. Jack was every bit as entertaining because he wanted to do a mad face, but he was too excited about the game, so all his faces looked like his happy face, and his happy face is what he used for any expression he didn't know how to express, which was probably 80% of them. It was really really funny. And Alivia nailed the board face and tired faces, cute little bug sitting up on the table in the good old bumbo.
Today we had a massive rain storm roll through. The kids played out in the rain and loved every second of it. But as the lightening got closer and the thunder got louder, believe it or not I was the one that called uncle and made them come in. They were so wet I had to put shirts in the dryer. Jack couldn't tell me enough how much he loved the "thunderworks". Apparently the fireworks from Monday night left an impression on him, and "thunderworks" is too cute to correct. He's saying something else that is just too dang cute, but I can't think of it right now. I'm going to try to write down the cute things he is saying because he is at the best age for that right now.
Lucy is in swimming lessons and loving it. I love watching her in class settings. She will for sure be one of the brown nosers, like her daddy but don't tell her I said that, or him. She is such a little pleaser and I love watching that in a class setting, it's probably one of those things that only a mother can love, but I LOVE it.
In other Lucy news, she was accepted to our preschool down the street! We are so excited about this because as the whole preschool issue came up we started looking into some in our area and learned that preschool costs a fortune! I'm talking over $200 a month! Yeah right! So, when I found out about the free preschool program for D-11 students, you better believe I got Lucy on that waiting list as fast as possible. I put her on it this time last year for this year, and it worked! Lucy got in with our neighbor girl down the street, and we are hoping, and pretty confident that they will be in the same class. Just in case you missed it, this is very good, very exciting news around here. When my neighbor got her acceptance letter she came running down the street holding it and asked if I got one too. I hadn't checked my mail yet, so Lucy, Jack and I strapped on our shoes and walked up the street to the mail box. Lucy was saying "Oh please, oh please, oh please!" the whole way up, and it paid off. School starts August 22, and both mom and child are more than ready in this case. Blessings all around. Life is good. Crazy, oh, so crazy, but good.
I promise, picture updates are coming!
