Lucy's 5th Birthday

Lucy turned 5 back in October. She was so excited for her big day, and now that she is getting older I'm trying to come up with all the fun, but simple (I'm all about simple these days, life is too busy to do anything but simple, and this is why I LOVE pinterest.) traditions that I can do to make birthdays a special day.

This is our new tradition. We don't do it on the first birthday, it doesn't work unless the kids are big enough to come out of their room themselves. But in the morning they get to run through a wall of crate paper to start their big day with a bang.

I took chocolate dipped Oreo Pops to Lucy's class for her birthday and I wish I could have captured her reaction to me walking into that room on film. To say Lucy felt special doesn't do it justice. She saw me through the window, ran to the door as fast as she could yelling "Mommy!" Then she turned to her class and teachers and announced "Treats are here guys." in a I'm-so-cool tone that cracked me up. This girl LOVES being the center of attention.

After dad came home we did presents. Can you tell she was excited? Jack was very in on this action. I can't wait for his birthday in a few weeks, he'll be so fun.

Sorry for all the present pictures, but this is one of those priceless faces pictures. I have to put it on here to make sure I have it forever.

These were her two favorite presents. She got her Repunzel doll, which was a big deal. And daddy got her a princess helmet to wear when she rides her two wheeler which she mastered this summer. Now I can relax a little when she takes off flying down the hill.

Cake time was hilarious, and these pictures kind of captured what happened.

As soon as we got the candles lit, Jack blew them out. So, we lit them again, and Lucy stared Jack down to make sure he didn't blow them out again.

I mean, she was really worried about him doing it again, she watched him out of the corner of her eye as she blew. Cracked me up.

Once that worry passed she was all smiles. In the end it was a simple day, a simple cake, but one happy little girl! I can't believe I have a 5 year old!
