On Saturday last week, October 11th we decided to go on a drive up in the mountains. We have been trying to do this for the last couple of weeks because we wanted to see the trees changing. I wasn't too thrilled when Shawn said that he found a drive for us that would take about 4 hours. I was like great, 4 hours in the car, and we end up right back at our house, how do I explain that one to Lucy? But I decided we'd give it a go on the condition that we could stop and get out and walk a lot so it didn't feel like a drive to Idaho. But I was pleasantly surprised by it. The drive was suppose to be about 4 hours, but it really only took like 2 1/2 and it was GORGEOUS! There weren't as many aspens as we had hoped, since those are the trees that get really bright this time of year, but the mountains are just so pretty! I love to two pictures at the top, especially the one with the cabin, I felt like we ripped that one out of a catalog. From the gorgeous rocks to the surprise old rail road tunnel we got to drive through, this is our new favorite drive down here in Colorado Springs.
I must say, not a flattering view of me. I'm clearly pregnant now, but with that sweater on, and maternity pants, I just look really fat. The side view doesn't help my cause. But when I'm wearing shirts that fit better I don't look quite so ridiculous. Lucy had to stop can climb on some "Big Rocks!" but is was freezing, so we didn't stay long. Too bad about the graffiti on the one rock too.
