Jack Michael Hammond

So this is Jack. One look at him and you can see he is all little boy, there is nothing girly about him. Jack is 12 hours old, and I can already tell you that he likes to do things his way. We learned that early this morning when Jack decided to surprise us and come just a few hours earlier than our scheduled induction.
So yesterday Shawn and I were up in Highlands Ranch and drove to the Denver Airport at about 3:00 to pick up my mom. After she got there, we drove back to Shawn's parents house for dinner, and then we headed back to Colorado Springs to get everything ready. But 10:30 we were in bed since I was scheduled to go to the hospital at 5:30 the next morning. I listened to Shawn fall asleep in like 15 minutes, and I laid there for a good hour trying to calm my mind down enough to sleep. I was finally starting to relax when I felt a sharp pain, and I knew it was a contraction, but it was stronger than any contraction I had ever felt with Lucy. I figured it was a fluke, so when it passed I tried to fall back asleep. After a few more of those, I started to glance at the clock, and it was 11:40.
By 12:15 I was having enough of them and they hurt so bad that I decided if I were still having them by 1:00, then I'd wake Shawn up. That's when I started shaking uncontrollably with each one, and started to think that they were a lot closer together. By 12:22 I woke Shawn up and said "I think I'm in labor." So he timed a few contractions and we noticed they were like a minute and a half long, and a minute apart, and absolutely unbearable! After timing two I said, I need to go in now.
When we got to the hospital they checked me and I was a 5, then they admitted me and checked me a half hour later, and I was an 8. Just before they checked me they gave me the epidural, thank goodness! Then a half hour later they checked me and I was a 10, and my water broke. So it was time to push. After a few pushes, we had a baby boy! I had been told by my doctor two weeks ago that Jack, like Lucy was posterior, and there was a chance of a c-section, so I was terrified of that. So for everything to go that quick and that smooth, was a dream!!
Jack weighed 8 pounds 2.5 ounces (btw, I guessed he'd weigh 8 pounds 3 ounces, go me!!!) he is 22 inches long, and born at 2:55 am after just over 3 hours of labor from start to finish! I was crazy!! Shawn and I could not believe how fast it was going the whole time. We don't have many great pictures from the beginning because we were kind of in shock and before we knew it he was here!

Oh, and you don't even look like you had a baby in those pictures, your hair looks cute and your face isn't even swollen. I wish I could be there to hold him. He really is cute!!
