Cheyenne Mountian Zoo

Shawn and I recently met Adam and Tiffany Nelsen in our ward, and they moved in about a month before we did. We have never met a couple we have hit it off so well with. Within days of meeting them, I called Tiffany to see if she wanted to go to the zoo with me. Tiffany has 3 kid, Olivia -5, London -3 (pictured below with the blond hair and black shirt), and Eli who just turned one. We had so much fun at the zoo, and it really hit me funny as we were leaving the zoo and Tiffany turned to me and asked how Shawn and I met. We had spent the whole day together and had such a good time, I felt like I'd known her forever! So it was really funny to me that we didn't know the basic things about each other like how we met our husbands or how old each of us are.

We went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which is just the zoo here in Colorado Springs. I was skeptical, how nice of a zoo can Colorado Springs have right? Well it turns out it is one of the coolest zoos I have ever been to! Here are the girls with one of the peacocks that was just roaming around. He was very loud and was all about having his feathers all displayed. We knew when he started shaking them that the girls were probably getting a little too close.

Here is Lucy growling like the Alligators, which is what is right behind her in the pond.

And the best part about this zoo, kind of what they are known for is their giraffes! They have the biggest herd of giraffes in the the country, and the best part is you get to feed them crackers! I wish I could have gotten a picture of Lucy actually feeding them, but she only fed them one cracker and then she realized what was going on and she just wanted to look at the "Melvin's" (what Lucy calls giraffes since that is the name of the giraffe on Madagascar) from then on. I think the tongue freaked her out. But I loved it, and Lucy loved to watch it too. This guy would stick his big old long tongue out and take your cracker, suck it in, and flop that tongue right back out for another one! So cool!!!
